my first book review

Title: Hardy boys 1: the tower treasure.Author: Franklin W. DixonISBN: 0-448-08901-7Genre: MysteryPublisher: Grosset & DunlapPublication date: June 1, 1927 (Updated Release in 1959)

Pages: 192 (Updated release page count: 180)

This is the first book of the hardy boy’s series, which introduces us to Frank and Joe, the sons of the famous detective, Fenton Hardy. The Hardy boy’s series was started in 1927 and ran to 1979. There were 38 books in the original series. The publishers were Grosset& Dunlap. However, they were written by different authors, mostly Leslie McFarlane, under the alias of Franklin W Dixon. The Hardy Boys is the all-time longest running and best selling book series for boys. They also made a TV show that ran from 1995 onwards called The Hardy Boys staring Colin Gray and Paul Popowich. Also, The Hardy Boys & Nancy Drew Mysteries was a prime time series starring Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy. The Hardy Boys alternated with Nancy Drew.

I think that Franklin W Dixon did a good job designing the two brothers and the other numerous characters in the book.My favorite character is the tramp that locks the boys in the water tower.I thoroughly enjoyed this book because the author catches your attention right at the start by getting right into the action and it picks up really quick. My favorite part is when the boys are shut in the water tower and have to find a way out without letting the tramp know that they are escaping.

I would recommend this book for ages 10-12 as it is an easy read but with some complicated words.I would rate this book 10/10 because it is an exciting read and it keeps the mystery hidden right until the final page.

  1. You didn’t summarise the plot of the book. The task was to give a brief summary of the book and then an indepth personal opinion. You need to spend more time on the required aspects of the review.Your personal response needs to explain why you like things etc.

  2. I’ve recently read them as well and I agree they are very good books, if you want to read my review it’s at http://bookboyblog.wordpress.com
